Family Group Conferencing Facilitation

Family Group Conferencing is a process that brings families together to develop solutions for the issues that children, young people and families are facing. In NSW it is increasingly being used in the out of home care system to support decision making processes about where children and young people in care can find a permanent placement. Family group conferencing helps to build on people’s strengths and support families to overcome challenges.

A Family Group Conferencing Facilitator organises the family group conference and will make sure everyone who is at the conference is able to speak and be heard. Facilitators are there to support the family to develop a plan that has the wellbeing of the child or young person in mind.
